“Before using Bmax, I could only run once a week, because of the stump rubbing with the prosthesis. I got blisters because of the overheating I suffered and the extra effort of my foot. I had to stop every 20 minutes to dry off my stump. Now my performance is far greater and I can be running for many hours without any discomfort”.
I have a below knee amputation of my left leg. At this moment I am the runner-up of triathlon in sprint distance of my autonomous community. And I also have other titles such as: European Champion of Half Ironman 2013, bronze at the Triathlon World Championship Long Distance 2012.
All this has been possible thanks to Lurbel and more specifically to its Bmax technology and its socks. I have been testing all them since they were presented at the beginning of the year 2012. Before using the dressing for my stump, rubbing and overheating caused me injuries in the skin that did not allow me to run more than once a week and I had to stop every 20 minutes to dry off my stump and to rest some days and recover. Therefore, my hard trainings consisted of cycling or swimming.
Currently, I am the first amputee in Europe who practice trail running, because I daily use a Bmax dressing between the prosthesis and the stump. This dressing has properties that keep the skin in perfect conditions, in spite of the toughness of trail running. The dressing is a protection ideal in competitions. On the other leg I wear socks Trail Plus that give me extra comfort in the leg which supports the added weight of the prosthesis, thanks to the compressive properties.
